The Vice President of Clinical Operations and Strategy will be responsible for providing leadership internally and externally for Conifer Value-Based Care around care management strategies, quality performance, and physician engagement. This individual is responsible for leading a dynamic team of care managers who deliver to a diverse set of clients including risk bearing organizations, employers, unions, and health plans. The incumbent will also be responsible for setting the strategy and implementing operating models to drive differentiated care management models. In addition, the incumbent will lead quality programs, enhancing clinical quality performance and analytics for value-based contracts. This leader will partner with the Vice President of Finance and Operations in reporting and delivering on clients needs. The Vice President of Clinical Operations and Strategy should be seen as an expert and innovator in the field and represent Conifer Value-Based Care externally to clients, prospects, speaking events and publishing.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Manage team and operating performance of clinical operations including, but not limited to, utilization management, case management, disease management, personal health management, and quality management.
Serves as clinical subject matter expert to clients and partners, developing strategies for physician engagement and enhanced performance.
Sets clinical informative strategy and execution of strategy with enhanced analytics and clinical metric library.
Leads clinical discussions and strategy for pursuits, partnering with sales.
Participates in business unit strategic planning, leading clinical and/or product initiatives from conception to implementation
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES
Business acumen on healthcare market trends including risk bearing organizations, clinically integrated networks, accountable care organizations, and employer benefits
Understanding of care management programs including regulatory, NCQA and URAC criteria for utilization management, case management, and disease management
Excellent written and verbal communications skills
Ability to lead and develop team members, including inspiring team members for vision of company
Ability to analyze complex problems, create solution, and articulate path forward
EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE
Medical degree (M.D.) required; practice experience strongly preferred
10-15 yearï¿½s experience in health care required
Experience overseeing care management at a health plan or risk bearing organization, including utilization management
Experience of managing a team of greater than 30 team members
Experience creating clinical programs including reviewing analytics on effectiveness of those programs
Must be able to work in sitting position, use computer and answer telephone
Ability to travel
Office Work Environment
Approximately 50% travel may be required
