Reporting directly to the system Chief Information Officer, the Chief Data Officer (CDO) will have the opportunity to shape the future of the enterprise data analytics at UCLA Health as leader of the Office of Health Information and Analytics (OHIA). Working closely with leadership across the medical enterprise, including the UCLA Clinical and Translational Science Institute, the UCLA Institute of Precision Health and the Department of Computational Medicine, the CDO will affect the evolution of health information technology at the organization and ensure the safe use of health data for research and clinical care.

With broad, strategic responsibilities, the Chief Data Officer (CDO) role requires an individual with exemplary leadership and relationship skills at the level of being a role model for peers and employees. The CDO must promote the philosophy, objectives and standards for the use of health data in the Health Sciences and provide the energy, creativity and vision in the use of data and analytics. The CDO must also be an individual who will embrace the cultural values of the institution, including CICARE and the Cultural North Star.
UCLA Health is seeking an individual with:
Extensive senior management experience in either a large, complex integrated academic health system, or comparable industry setting.
Deep experience in major information technology or data analytics/reporting operations.
Ability to bring visionary direction to fruition in a dynamic and matrixed environment.
Strong and broad knowledge of opportunities and challenges facing the clinical, educational and research components of an academic medical center.
Experience in research analytics needs.
Evidence of a management style that inspires a culture of achieving excellence through teamwork, trust, collaboration, and accountability.
A Bachelor’s degree is required.
Advanced degree in a relevant field or the equivalent professional experience preferred.
Training in management science/leadership preferred.
