The Marketing and Communications Director develops, formulates, manages, executes and directs all Marketing and Communication activities undertaken by the Foundation. The Director works directly with Foundation board leadership, president, staff and volunteers to carry out these responsibilities, while developing and sustaining relationships within the community to promote and bring community awareness of the Foundation.
Consistently supports CHRISTUS Health's and CHRISTUS Foundation for HealthCare's mission, vision and values.
Follows the CHRISTUS Guidelines related to the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA), designed to prevent or detect unauthorized disclosure of Protected Health Information (PHI)
Responsible for planning and executing community activities and other initiatives, including budget, correspondence, vendor contact, volunteer leadership recommendations, mailing lists, invitations, programs, décor and supporting printed materials and products. Assure vendors continuously meet the professional quality standards of the Foundation.
Develops, plans and executes smaller events of the Foundation, including appreciation and acquisition events, such as kick-off parties, blessings and dedications. Works with development staff to support and promote the events.
Plans, directs, and tracks publicity, communication and marketing for foundation including special events, including; Focus Newsletter (2 times annually), Website (creation, additions, deletions, updates and ensures optimization for search engines), Social Media (updates/notification through Facebook and other), Program Reports (update every 6 months), Emails (monthly mass update mailings), Google analytics are reviewed periodically for trends and user engagement.
Directs, plans and organizes the direct mail solicitations programs for the foundation and develops/ conducts ongoing related activities, such as; appreciation activities, donor club events (including donor friends). Researches historical to determine appropriate communications and touch points for core audiences of the Foundation.
Works in conjunction with the Directors of Development and/or Donor Relations to compose, plan and implement a Giving Programs, i.e., a planned giving society with pamphlets and flyers for donor stewardship, solicitation and recognition for upgrading donor status, along with direct mail.
Assists with planning, organizing and directing any Capital Campaign undertaken by the Foundation, and ultimately shares in the successes of the Campaign due to personal cultivation and fundraising efforts.
Creates and maintains all marketing materials to include posters, brochures, flyers for special events and development activities. Conducts surveys to target audiences for better understanding of message creation, i.e., potential donors, volunteers, event participants, former donors, and etc.
Works with the Board, Staff and Friends of the Foundation to identify and plan related community events and engagement opportunities.
Maintains a collaborative working relationship with the Foundation constituencies, Board members, Staff members and Healthcare System individuals along with both internal and external marketing, communications, public relations and event firms.
Attends Committee meetings when appropriate and special functions of the Ministries and Healthcare System.
Participates in planning and goal setting with the Board of Directors and Foundation Staff to determine the basis for creating a comprehensive marketing and communications plan with key performance indicators.
Provides activity reports, reviews marketing/communications expenditures and budget to the Foundation's President on an established or requested basis, including activities, plans and goals.
Represents the Foundation at community service organization and community groups. Networks and builds relationships with community leaders to increase the foundation's visibility and to identify volunteer sources and opportunities for/with various groups.
Assists with other departmental functions and projects as needed.
Bachelor degree required.
Work experience in marketing and communications, preferably with a non-profit fund raising organization.
Outstanding verbal, written and organizational skills.
Self-starter, social poise and high level of maturity.
Ability to work well with others and possess a team spirit and attitude.
Requires versatility, imagination and a well-oriented individual.
Demonstrate a high degree of interpersonal skills and organizational skills.
Demonstrate appropriate computer technology skills (working knowledge and use of Microsoft Word, Excel, Desktop Publishing and familiarity with Adobe applications).
Additionally, the individual will understand and demonstrate being fluent in current communication technology and trends, such as; Facebook, Twitter, Texting, Evite, Constant Contact, YouTube, etc., and, stay abreast of any new technology tools.
7-10 years in marketing, communications and event planning for fund raising non-profit organizations, preferably in the Houston area.
