Performs duties to support the goals and objectives of the Geisinger Health System in its efforts to provide quality patient care and patient satisfaction. This is a specialty position that integrates nursing science, computer science, and information science to manage and communicate data, information, and knowledge in clinical practice to support all patient care facilities within the Geisinger enterprise. Facilitates data integration, information and knowledge to support patients, nurses, and other providers in their decision-making in all roles and settings. This support is accomplished through the use of information structures, information processing, and information technology. Will focus on the design, structure, and presentation of information and how these issues impact clinician decision-making. Functions as the primary IT user contact for the Nursing Department.
Receives general supervision from Director, Program Director or management designate.
COMPETENCIES AND SKILLS:
Demonstrates excellent oral and written communication skills.
Demonstrates self-motivated work ethic.
Demonstrates analytical ability with a general understanding of the health care industry required.
Demonstrates the ability to interact with senior level management, as well as project participants required.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
Current registered nurse license required. Bachelor’s degree required.
Minimum of five (5) years of inpatient clinical nursing experience required.
Minimum of two (2) years experience in systems design or detailed application experience and is fluent in informatics terminology required.

Work is typically performed in a clinical/office environment.
