JOB TITLE: Infrastructure Automation and Scripting Engineer
LOCATION: Geisinger Office Building I Annex (Old Data Center)

Geisinger is looking to automate our server infrastructure. We are currently hiring at multiple levels of engineers and will be training staff on VMware vRealize Automation and other tools.
Engineers on our infrastructure team are responsible for providing third tier support of assigned systems, building out automation and orchestration for IT infrastructure across 13 hospital campuses system-wide.
We offer flexible and alternative working arrangement options. Remote/Telecommuters options available. Minimum 20% office time per week.
Performs duties to support the goals and objectives of the Geisinger Health System (GHS) in its efforts to provide quality patient care and patient satisfaction.
Receives general supervision from the Team Lead, Director, Program Director or management designate.
MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Advanced scripting ability
Base understanding of VMware vSphere/ESXi
Ability to self-manage
Ability to train other team members to provide support coverage
Availability to participate in on-call rotation
Effectively communicates status of all projects, problems, and issues to the department management team.
Must have very strong problem-solving skills.
Must have the ability to learn new technologies quickly
COMPETENCIES AND SKILLS:
Experience in infrastructure automation technologies/concepts
Demonstrated advanced proficiency in one or more of the following languages:
· PowerShell (Preferred)
· Other Programming/Scripting
Cloud Technologies (Microsoft Azure, AWS, Google Cloud, etc.)
Microsoft Windows Server (all versions).
RedHat Linux (all versions)
Working knowledge of ServiceNow
Microsoft System Center Suite
VMware vRealize Automation (preferred)
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematic) field required. Minimum of two-ten years of equivalent experience in a STEM field required, salary to commensurate with experience.
In lieu of degree, may consider equivalent experience in a STEM field.
Experience in being part of large technical projects required.
Job can be filled at a lower pay grade with salary commensurate with experience.
If a suitably experienced candidate cannot be found, applicants who meet the basic qualifications but possess fewer years of experience will be considered for hire at a lower level. Salary would commensurate with experience.
