Provides leadership within the Environmental Services (EVS) department providing activities to assure compliance with safety and sanitation regulations. Responsible for a variety of environmental services duties, follows special healthcare cleaning techniques as required, and trains staff as needed. Ensures a professional and appropriate service standard while performing the job. Follows system-wide standards as well as department specific service standards.
Responsible for ensuring the very best patient/family/ customer experience by optimizing all customer interactions. Fosters a positive work environment through mutual support and cooperation and adheres to service standards. Performs duties to support the goals and objectives of Geisinger in its efforts to provide quality patient care and patient satisfaction.

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:
High School graduate or equivalent required.
Minimum three years of experience in a service industry position with progressive growth in leadership abilities and responsibilities, preferably in a healthcare environment, required.
Certified as a C.H.E.S.T. (Certified Healthcare Environmental Services Technician) by the Association for the Healthcare Environment of the American Hospital Association required within 18 months of their Team Leader start date, if not already certified.
Minimum 6 months on the job to become familiar with all duties and responsibilities.
All EVS Staff who enter Medication Rooms (Where Applicable) must receive mandatory education on proper Medication Room protocol
WORKING CONDITIONS/PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
Requires ability to stand, walk, bend, lift up to 50 lbs., carry and push carts from 100 lbs. to 500 lbs. when performing duties. Works under a variety of temperature conditions. May involve transporting items outside of buildings in all weather conditions.
Possesses the ability to stand for long periods as well as to walk long distances to perform cleaning and disinfecting tasks as well as inspections of both high and low items/areas.
Requires ability to perform job duties correctly with in established System EVS standards to facilitate patient throughput.
Requires ability to tolerate the associated visual, auditory and scents associated with providing all kinds of medical and surgical care.
These duties are performed 50% to 60% of the workday.

Work is typically performed within a office, clinical or classroom environment; frequently performs duties around patients, their families and clinical care providers as well as non-clinical staff.
