Hampton Behavioral Health Center & Hampton Academy is seeking a dynamic and talented Billing Specialist to assist us in our Patient Accounts Department. Hampton Behavioral Health Center is a private behavioral healthcare center and offers the most advanced behavioral health, diagnostic treatment services for adults, adolescents and older adults in both inpatient and outpatient programs.
We are looking for a Full-time seasoned Billing Specialist to assist with billing related to the hospital accounts. The Billing Specialist is accountable for creating invoices and credit memos, issuing them to customers by all necessary means, and updating customer files. In this high telephone volume position, you will be required to resolve problems with billing and invoices which cannot be processed in a timely an efficient manner. You will be required to contact patient and/or third party payers in order to obtain timely payment of accounts receivables. And ensure that the Hospital collection policy, objectives, and procedures are followed as directed by Administration.
Posts all ancillary charges to patient accounts
Posts contractual allowances when needed to accounts
Reviews and releases all primary insurance billing
Contact patients and/or third party payers in order to obtain timely payments
Print bills, daily and monthly reports
Accountable for creating invoices and credit memos and updating patient accounts
Resolve problems with billing and invoices which cannot be processed in a timely and efficient manner
Verify billed accounts with accounts receivable ledger to ensure that all payments are accounted for and properly posted
Working in a team environment and participating in departmental meetings to review problem transactions and delinquencies.
High School diploma or GED required, college level accounting classes preferred.
2 years related work experience in credit/collections work required.
General accounting experience preferred
Experience with computer systems required, including web based applications and some Microsoft Office applications which may include Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint or Access.
