POSITION SUMMARY: The Echo/Vascular Ultrasound is responsible for the day-to-day operations (patient flow) and efficiency of the ultrasound department. Must utilize the principles of continuous quality improvement in collaboration with other health team members. The Echo/Vascular Technologist performs ultrasound examinations according to the currently accepted practices of the ARDMS and Northwest Texas Healthcare System. The technologist will prepare technical reports, exam rooms, equipment and supplies for procedures. Performs a variety of Technical procedures. Assist Radiologist, Cardiologist and Staff Physicians with tests/scans. Demonstrates ultrasound echo/vascular skills needed for all appropriate scans as defined by the department. Demonstrates good patient care. Utilizes the appropriate leadership skill in supervising students and providing feedback concerning student performance. Demonstrates good communication and problem solving skills. Is a professional role model for personnel. Provides an environment conducive to safety for patients, visitors and employees. The Echo/Vascular Ultrasound technologist will assess risks to patient safety and implement the appropriate precaution. The Echo/Vascular Ultrasound technologist will comply with appropriate and approved standards relating to: patients, infection control, and environmental issues.
