The Communications Manager is responsible for enhancing the communication and image of CHRISTUS Foundation for HealthCare along with other Foundation staff, with internal and external key constituency communications for the Foundation. Specifically, the Communications Manager assists the Chief Director of Development by interfacing directly or indirectly with vendors for print, media or online communications. The Manager implements communications for key constituencies, including creating designated collateral on behalf of the Foundation. Specific communications activities could include assisting in the production of system newsletters and annual reports, as well as internal/external printed material; editing and placement of articles, preparation and distribution of news releases; and preparation of communications for special events such as the annual fundraising events (luncheons, dinners or other). The Manager will also manage and create content for the Foundation website and write designated grant proposals. The Communications Manager researches, requests RFPs, assimilates information and is responsible for maintaining, tracking and archiving Foundation media information along with gathering information to determine effectiveness of media/event related activities. All actions of the Communications Manager position must support the mission, vision, core values and strategic objectives of CHRISTUS Foundation for HealthCare and CHRISTUS Health.
The Communications Manager will be in a position to interface daily with various public constituents, both internal and external clients, including the Board of Directors, Donors, and Community Partners.
Build awareness and enhance CHRISTUS Foundation for HealthCare of the Foundation through development of effective communication and marketing efforts, including clarity and consistency.
Develop, plan and graphically design printed brochures, ads, annual report, newsletter and other mailings designed for donors and potential partners.
Research and write grant proposals in conjunction with Foundation leadership.
Oversee or responsible for departmental e-communication and social communication, including, but not limited to Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and mass general donor emails to ensure consistency in mission branding and messaging.
Plans and organizes donor direct mail solicitations, web based and social media communications, working in conjunction with the Chief Director of Development.
Oversee or responsible for content and updates for foundation website, christusfoundation.org.
Serve as a key resource for maintaining and generating monthly news information for distribution to external communications partners.
Composes, plans and implements an Annual Giving Program and giving society, in conjunction with the Chief Director of Development, with print materials for donor stewardship, solicitation, retention and recognition for upgrading donor status.
Assists Foundation leadership with communications including but not limited to preparation and distribution of press kits, key message points, fact sheets and Q's and A's.
Assists Foundation leadership and serves as internal/external communications point of contactfor the Foundation by editing of news releases and print collateral as needed and ensures that relevant content is disseminated effectively through appropriate Foundation/System communication channels.
Assist with implementing communications plan and activities for special events, working collaboratively with Foundation staff as necessary.
May represent the Foundation for various internal/external committees and task forces, as requested.
Manage and maintain vendor relationships, as appropriate to responsibilities.
Assist when necessary with other system Communications projects as needed.
Assist with story and publicity relevant photography assignments for the Foundation.
Bachelor's degree in communications, public relations, marketing, business or related field.
Strong verbal and written communications skills to effectively reach a variety of audiences.
Must have strong conceptual and analytical capabilities and a temperament conducive to being part of a results-oriented team.
Ability to travel with in the Houston/Galveston Market Area;
Ability to use a computer for extended periods of time, including InDesign, Word, Excel, Desktop Publishing, Facebook, PowerPoint and Photoshop, with knowledge and ability to take pictures at events.
Ability to work extended hours on occasion, including some weekends and/or evenings.
Ability to prioritize work.
Ability to handle confidential information responsibly.
Ability to work with little supervision, set priorities, creates schedules and meets deadlines.
Must be able to work rapidly, under pressure, and with frequent interruptions.
A minimum of 5 years of experience in graphic design, marketing, communications, or equivalent combination of education, training, and/or experience. Experience working in a non-profit along with advertising or public relations setting is preferable.
