Recruit, train, and retain qualified staff. Provide quality leadership by exhibiting moral and ethical behavior. Provide a high morale atmosphere in your department. Ensure the staff member handbook, policies and procedures are followed according to Fleet Landing. Responsible for doing annual performance evaluations for each staff member on their anniversary and submitting the correct paper work in a timely manner. Directs the day-to-day on-site marketing and sales activity required to meet the Fleet Landing reservation goals. Supervises the activities of the on-site sales and marketing staff. Provide management support in event planning, advertising and direct mail campaigns. As this position is one of a “selling sales manager”- time is to be spent as a Senior Living Counselor and should therefore refer to the same job description. The expectation is that 6 sales per year will be contributed by the efforts of the Manager of Sales and Marketing.

Follows all established safety procedures and precautions. Reports all unsafe/ hazardous conditions, and/ or defective equipment to Manager. Reports all incidents/accidents, no matter how minor, to Manager.
Supervises the day-to-day activity of the Sales and Marketing staff.
Assists Senior Living Counselors in setting individual reservation goals, monitors the achievement of these goals.
Makes written and oral reports and recommendations to the Senior Leadership Team.
Ensures unassigned leads are distributed equitably to Senior Living Counselors.
Contributes dialogue with approved new Residents in reservation status, as needed.
Provides Resident Publications input and Marketing reports for use of Resident Council, Senior Leadership and Board of Directors.
Supports and/or collaborates on website, advertising, marketing communications and public relations initiatives.
Directs all outside vendors providing services to Sales and Marketing efforts.
Conducts daily strategy, training, goal-setting and performance meetings with staff or one on one.
Implements and documents department policies and procedures.
Reviews department practices continually and provides process for improvements for change as needed.
Delegates administrative authority, responsibility, and accountability to other staff personnel as deemed necessary to perform their assigned duties.
Reviews accident/incident reports and participates in Safety & Security meetings. Participates in inter-departmental meetings.
May be appointed to serve on committees as defined and required by the Senior Leadership Team.
Recruits, selects, trains and supervises marketing and sales staff.
Reviews the competence of the marketing staff and makes necessary adjustments/correction as required.
Assures and plans proper staffing to meet the demands of the marketing effort.
Counsels/disciplines personnel as may become necessary, and documents such actions.
Ensures the residence models and marketing office are maintained in a clean and orderly fashion.
Maintains, and manages within the approved Annual Operating Budget.
Maintains current records that reflect departmental expenditures.
Maintains confidentiality of all Resident information.
Assures the Resident’s rights to fair and equitable treatment, self-determination, individuality, privacy, property and civil rights, including the right to register complaints, are well established and maintained.
Perform other duties as assigned by the Senior Leadership Team.
Has a thorough knowledge of management practices and marketing concepts. Has a “working” knowledge of all activities related to marketing a continuing care retirement community. Has general knowledge of the applicable regulations relating to a continuing care retirement community.
Possesses a genuine interest in caring for and serving older adults while participating as a team player. Speaks the English language understandably. Carries out detailed written or verbal instructions. Exercises initiative, makes mature judgments, functions independently, is flexible, has personal integrity, and works effectively with prospects, Residents and personnel.
Must be able to move intermittently throughout the work day. Does activities such as: grasping, lifting and reaching. Performs light physical work, frequently exerts up to 10 pounds of force and up to 20 pounds on an occasional basis.
REPORTING TO WORK:
Reports for work on time according to schedule and adheres to the Attendance Policy. Adheres to the Appearance Standard Policy and reports to work in appropriate attire or uniform while maintaining professional grooming standards.
Minimum Education Required:
College degree in Marketing, Communications or Public Relations is preferred. On the job training in marketing a continuing care retirement community, including problem-solving and sales techniques.
Successful sales experience and experience as a supervisor or manager, preferably of a continuing care retirement community marketing staff.
Expected to work beyond normal working hours in order to meet the needs of prospects and as dictated by special events.
Reports to the Senior Director of Independent Living Services. The Manager of Sales and Marketing is responsible for his/her actions and the actions of those staff members under his/her direction and control.
Works in clean, well-lighted, well-ventilated facility. Congenial, friendly atmosphere with emphasis on respect for each individual staff member and Resident.
