Dietary Assistant - Food Service Food and Nutrition Services Lakeland Medical Center, Lakeland, Florida Shift: Flexible hours and schedules available
Communicating effectively with patients, care teams, and supervisors, the professional we select will be responsible for food preparation, coordinating meal assembly and room service systems with care teams, processing accurate meals and nourishment in accordance with dietary prescriptions, and serving patients courteously. This individual will identify potential nutritional problems and interact with clinical dietitians to perform appropriate interventions and contribute to the improvement of quality, safety, and cost-effectiveness of our food and nutrition services.
Additional responsibilities include:
Maintaining a positive attitude toward fellow staff, management, visitors, patients and family members and remaining consistently courteous, professional and positive to ensure a high level of customer satisfaction.
Communicating clearly with patients, family members and all staff and demonstrating a high level of compassion.
Remaining consistently caring and courteous in all patient, family, and professional interactions.
Demonstrating a working knowledge of specific diets, including the ability to modify trays using the menu guide by diet type and restriction, and ensuring each patient receives his or her prescribed diet.
Organizing job functions and work assignments and effectively completing them within established time frames.
Ensuring that carts and work area are clean, sanitized and well organized at all times.
Keeping work areas free of potential slip fall hazards at all times.
Ensuring that all dishware is taken to the dish room to be cleaned and stored neatly in compliance with cleaning and safety guidelines.
Interacting with patients to obtain their meal choices and answer any questions regarding the diet or menu process.
Inputting information in the dietary software system to meet service needs.
Education, Experience, and Licensure
Successful applicants will each possess a high school diploma or GED equivalent. Safe Serve certification and/or other food service sanitation certifications preferred.
