Responsibilities include clinical, teaching/supervision of residents and administration.
Two half day or one full day outpatient clinics per week.New patient appointments are scheduled for 45 minutes and follow up appointments are scheduled for 30 minutes.
Typical procedures include: Pace Maker, AICD, BiV ICD and ablation.
Teaching/Supervision of residents (25% of time): Includes 2 week CCU coverage approximately 2 times per year
Administrative (10% of time): Leadership, Human Resources, Staff management, Time/Leave management, and Clinical management.
Research Duties (If applicable): Physician researchers will show an ability to identify and define significant research and developmental problems, to plan and execute a precise research program, and to generate effective reports and results worthy of publication.
Coordinated with UTHSA but performed 8:00am-4:30pm, Monday-Friday
On Call requirements: Coverage includes the VA Hospital and UTHSA Hospital. Primary on call duties will be telephone consults. It is very rare to actually report to the facility.

Degree of doctor of medicine or an equivalent degree resulting from a course of education in allopathic medicine or osteopathic medicine. The degree must have been obtained from an institution whose accreditation was in place for the year in which the course of study was completed.
Current, full and unrestricted license to practice medicine or surgery in a State, Territory, or Commonwealth of the United States, or in the District of Columbia.
Physicians must have completed residency training or its equivalent, approved by the Secretary of Veterans Affairs in an accredited core specialty training program leading to eligibility for board certification.
Proficiency in spoken and written English.
Board Certifiedor currently enrolled in a program leading to board eligibility in Cardiac Electrophysiologywithan expectation of taking andpassing boards as soon as eligible.
Texas medical license OR expectation to apply for Texas license once selected. Even though the VA only requires any U.S. medical license this is due to being a joint hire with UTHSA.
Experience Teaching/EvaluatingResidency or Fellowship Program.
Active adult patient care duties inCardiac Electrophysiologywithin the last 2 years.
Evidence of some form of scholarly activity (Poster/Meeting Presentation/Educational Lectures/Equivalent)
