The John D. Dingell Veterans Affairs Medical center, Detroit, Michigan, has an immediate opening for a Full-Time, preferably Board Certified/Board Eligible Pulmonary and Critical Care staff physician. Qualifications include competency in all Pulmonary & ICU procedures including airway management and certification in ACLS and BLS. Responsibilities include management of ICU patients, care of pulmonary patients in the Detroit VAMC inpatient and outpatient settings, and oversight of respiratory services and supplemental oxygen therapy.
The Detroit VAMC has a strong affiliation with Wayne State University (WSU) and the WSU Pulmonary & Critical Care Fellows are an integral part of the pulmonary and ICU team in the Detroit VA. The Candidate will have fellow teaching responsibilities and will need to show academic interest and potential. Degree of doctor of medicine or an equivalent degree resulting from a course of education in medicine or osteopathic medicine. The degree must have been obtained from one of the schools approved by the Department of Veterans Affairs for the year in which the course of study was completed.
Current, full and unrestricted license to practice medicine or surgery in a State, Territory, or Commonwealth of the United States, or in the District of Columbia.
Completion of a first-year residency, or its equivalent, approved by the Department of Veterans Affairs for the year in which it was completed.
Proficiency in spoken and written English.

Preferred Experience: Preferred Board Certified in Internal Medicine (MD or DO) and Board Eligible or Certified in Pulmonary Medicine and Critical Care Medicine;Residency/Fellowship - completion of an accredited residency/fellowship in Internal Medicine is necessary to qualify for an academic appointment at affiliate Wayne State University.
