Providence is calling a Certified Nursing Assistant 2/Health Unit Coordinator to work a full-time day shift (8am - 4:30pm), Monday - Friday, at our Providence Milwaukie Hospital in Milwaukie, OR.This position resides in our wound care clinic. No weekends and no call.
This isn't just a CNA2 role - a large part of your day will be doing Health Unit Coordinator work which is comprised of answering phones, maintaining patient charts, and serving as a front-line customer service representative of the department. We need someone with extremely strong communication skills, someone who will jump in and help out, and someone who is great at prioritizing their day.
In this position, you will:
Provide overall administrative and technical assistance and support in the operation of the assigned nursing unit; collaborate with other staff and leaders in the development, oversight and operation of the unit.
Be the hub of all communication to and from the nursing unit and greatly impact the tone of the unit/shift.
Perform all clerical duties in support of the nursing unit.
Initiate and prioritize the accurate processing and transcription of provider orders.
Assemble and maintain patient charts, current forms, and results/reports.
Assess, order, and maintain unit supplies and equipment within defined unit budget.
Serve as the hub of all communication for the unit.
Display professional interpersonal skills and presence when communicating with patients, public and staff.
Uphold and exhibit Providence core values in all communications.
Be accountable for the efficient coordination of unit activities including patient placement, scheduling, and coordination with other departments for patient care services and the effective dissemination and prioritization of information.
Assist with basic patient care for patients and specific delegated duties that support the delivery of quality patient care, under the supervision of an RN.
Interact and gather data from patients of many ages, including neonatal, adolescent and adult.
Observe and report to RN a patient's self-report or behavior.
Required qualifications for this position include:
High school diploma or equivalent
Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) certification through Oregon State Board of Nursing (OSBN)
Cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) certification
Proficiency in word processing
1 year of experience performing secretarial duties in a healthcare or equivalent training in a recognized healthcare program
Experience with a variety of software applications
Medical terminology course or experience
Preferred qualifications for this position include:
1 year of of post high school education
Satisfactory completion of health unit coordinator course work or equivalent knowledge
National Certification Health Unit Coordinator
Previous experience as a preceptor/role model
